Hello,

I tried to config Fantastico to use a remote MySQL server, without changing Cpanel's MySQL setting (i.e. CPanel uses the local Mysql). I followed the note in "mysqlconfig.php" to create a new file named "mysqlconfig.local.php" with the following content:
<?php
$MYSQLHOST="remotemysqlserver";
$MYSQLPATH="mysql";
?>

I then tried to install PHPNuke using Fantastico. At the third step of installation, an error was displayed:

ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'user_nuke1@11.22.33.44' (Using password: YES)

Where "11.22.33.44" is the IP of the local host. I checked both the remote and local MySQL server and did not find any new database created. May be because Fantastico did not have the remote MySQL root password to create user and DB. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Fantastico can only create databases with the help of CPanel. If CPanel has no access to the other server, then Fantastico cant either.

So, in order to use remote MySQL server with Fantastico, I have to use the "Setup Remote MySQL Server" option, in WHM, to config CPanel to use this remote MySQL and then create the "mysqlconfig.local.php". Is this correct? Thanks.

Remote MySQL access in fantastico is now broken after update on Feb 19, 2007. It's now showing an error:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico/includes/enc_restrictions.inc.php on line 22

That file is encrypted. Can someone please fix it?

This has been fixed.

Please update your copy of Fantastico (WHM -> Fantastico De Luxe WHM Admin -> Update/Get files -> Install latest Fantastico De Luxe).
