When you MANUALLY install WordPress (via FTP), during the manual install process, it asks:

__ I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Gioogle, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers.
__ I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors.

Here's the problem:  When you install through Fantastico, it doesn't offer this option and it BLOCKS SEARCH ENGINES by default.

Most WordPress users that install via Fantastico are going to be totally unaware of this issue, and are not happy to find out that it was Fantastico that caused their site to not be indexed by the search engines.

For now, the solution for end users is to go into Settings -> Privacy, and change the option to "Allow".

Hopefully Fantastico can be modified to ask this question about allowing or blocking search engines OR simply set it to ALLOW by default, rather than BLOCK.

Thanks!
