Hi,

Today I was suddenly got bitten by the infamous "Fantastico is not installed at the default location /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico. Either move the Fantastico directory from it's current location to /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico OR enable ioncube loaders in WHM -> Tweak settings."

I'm not sure this was caused by switching on suPHP in WHM itself (and later in Fantastico). Sometime after switching on suPHP I noticed this. I'm not in the position right now to disable suPHP, unfortunately.

I searched this forum and tried everything suggested. Including, but not limited to:

- Copying the ioncube loaders from, as men (I'm on FreeBSD/amd64, details below).
- Running both /scripts/upcp --force and /scripts/makecpphp
- Setting Register_globals to 'On' (otherwise  the plugin won't work) for the backend
- Loader in WHM set to "NONE"
- Reinstalling Fantastico

Relevant details:

WHM 11.20.0 cPanel 11.22.3-C23899

Did you try the fixes listed at the end of the post here:

http://www.netenberg.com/forum/index.php?topic=1960.0

Lately, we've noticed that on some servers, cPanel decides to use /var/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/php.ini. The only problem is that the php.ini file doesn't exist in that location.

If that doesn't do the trick, open a support ticket and we'll take a look for you.

Lately, we've noticed that on some servers, cPanel decides to use /var/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/php.ini. The only problem is that the php.ini file doesn't exist in that location.
That seemed to do the trick. I verified it by again renaming /var/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/php.ini, and the error came back. But it's working now.

Thanks sofar for helping.  Grin

I've been having the same problem.

The only solution seems to be to recreate the zend_extension directive for the ioncube loaders in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/php.ini, and if it exists, /var/cpanel/3rdparty/etc/php.ini.

cPanel updates will remove the entry, so it has to be recreated everytime cpanel is updated. Even a chattr +i won't protect the php.ini in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/etc from being overwritten by cpanel updates.

Just wanted to chime in here -- I had this problem, too, and courtesy of Google I found:

http://wiki.cpaneldirect.net/wiki/index.php/Fantastico_is_not_installed_at_the_default_location

And the fix that worked for me was:

[...] you may want to rebuild cpanel's php with /scripts/makecpphp

This solved my issues, just want to share in case others run into it, too.

That's in our FAQ as well, but its always good to let people know in case they stumble across this thread.

Always be sure to check our FAQ when you are having problems. Most can be solved with just a few quick commands.

Hello All--
Great guides and help... just putting in my FYI in case anyone else runs across the problem.  I was also getting the dreaded "default location" method.

Following the guides, I SSH into the server as root, and ran  /scripts/makecpphp

Error went poof and everything is cool now.
