I have a problem.  I have a reseller and two of his clients used fantastico to install 2 different programs and they both came up with a 500 error.  The installs were phpbb and auction.  I have installed both of these on the main domain that owns fantastico with no problem.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Maybe they installed using a reseller or root password instead of the domain's password? They need to use the domain (account) password when they login to CPanel or Fantastico can't connect to MySQL.

Well I think I found the problem but I don't know how to fix it.

Looks like the 500 Server Error is caused by an incorrect User Owner assigned by cPanel WHM.  WHM is assigning the User ID as the Owner, should assign the Username as both Owner and Group. The Owner / Group should both be the username, i.e..,

Owner: howardsw
Group: howardsw

However all my resellers accounts show the User ID as Owner:
Owner: 558
Group: howardsw

I think that is causing the problem. Fantastico works fine, connects to MySQL, installs the files, however I still get the same 500 Internal Server Error.

My reseller has said that he installed them as the user not with reseller/root password.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks

wrong owner is a very well known problem of CPanel. Just chown the home dir properly and it should work.

chown username.username /home/username

(replace "username" with the real username. replace "home" with the real partition name)

If you have no problems with sending root access (IP + root pass) to me, then do it and I will check whats up. Send to support@cpanelthemes.com

Include cpanel access data for the Fantastico administrator's cpanel.

Kosmo:

I am getting the same error. My password for my server is not the same as my hosting account that has my Fantastico CP installed in it. Below is the error I am getting on almost any new install. Can you help?

Internal Server Error

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@thunderhosting.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
